Exciting week in Daily Deals as geographic expansion, verticalization and publisher entrance continues. Even Wall Street has started to pay attention. Here’s your Friday Roundup:
  • TravelZoo (TZOO) saw a big bump in share price and OpenTable (OPEN) was upgraded by Merrill Lynch, both as a result of their introducing Daily Deal products. This has led to some discussion of Daily Deals in the public equities community. Note they sold 970 deals for this Cruise last weekend. [The Motley Fool].
  • Geographic Expansion: Daily Deals expand to the UAE and Thailand.
  • Verticalization: more dedicated sites spawned this week to control various niches, including green products, gay friendly establishments, and college campuses.
