Do trust fund babies take advantage of daily deals like the rest of us?
Gilt City, the leader in luxury flash offers, sure seems to think so as evidenced by one of their recent offerings: a 45 minute private performance by Grammy Award-winning artist Macy Gray.
For $15,000 the R&B legend will play material from her new album “Covered” as well as exclusives for you and your friends in a venue of your choice. The offer is good for Tuesday, July 17 or Wednesday, July 18 from 10:30 PM to 1:00 AM. At roughly $333 a minute or $5.55 a second, some might call this extravagant event a waste of money, but I’m going to tell you why it represents a great opportunity.
If you have the means to hold private concerts in your home you don’t want to run the risk of running out of crazy things to brag about and be upstaged by one of your friends. How can you counter your friend’s yacht trip to Ibiza? Snag this deal and win eternal bragging rights. The opportunities to sneak this into conversation are, quite frankly, endless.
This is like that lottery commercial where the woman hits the lotto and hires an orchestra to perform before she goes to sleep. This is like the ad where the TV is so good that it feels like the movie is taking place in your living room. Or maybe that’s headphones. Or Rock Band? You get the picture. This is pretty much iTunes but real life. Sweet.
I’m not even jealous of whoever snags this though. Gilt is accustomed to offering up high end deals. This past March they partnered with Infiniti to sell a 2013 JX35 Luxury Crossover at 50% off retail for the charity Coaches vs. Cancer. I’m just going to wait it out for the next big thing.
